My Dancing with the Stars Season 34 Opinions

People can’t get enough of Dancing with the Stars this season. I have been watching DWTS with my mom for about eight years. Now that we don’t live together, I make sure she is watching each Tuesday night. We have gone to two of the tour shows; in 2019 and February of 2025. Because I know all the DWTS lore, it’s fun brainwashing my friends into enjoying the show. Last year I finally forced my roommate and two of my friends to watch DWTS with me and now it’s a weekly tradition. I thought it would be fun to share some of my opinions about this season given I look forward to Tuesday nights each week. Here are my thoughts on the 2025 Dancing with the Stars Season:

Correct me if I am wrong but this is a show about celebrities learning how to dance. Was that not what Andy was doing? I personally found Andy Richter to be one of my favorite people from this season. He never failed to capture everyone’s attention. I know he had some mixed views for how far he made it in the competition, but the further he made it, the more he touched the audience’s hearts. He truly was there to learn about the art of dancing and showing his personality alongside it only made me vote for him more. He was named the people’s princess on Tik Tok and I think that was the perfect way to sum him up. He reminded me of my grandpa in the best way possible.

In my opinion, social media gave this show the boost that it needed. The show recently hired their first Gen Z pro, Rylee Arnold, who has been able to assist in the show’s popularity, through posting behind the scenes material on TikTok. TikTok has been a great source in gaining a younger audience, and the show’s collaboration with the app has shown just that. Since then, the pros on the show have an added responsibility of posting on all of their social media pages. This is a good way to get views for the show, but it also comes with lots of negativity online. Hate spreads like wildfire on a live reality TV show like DWTS. People create opinions and are loud about them. This show allows celebrities to be in a vulnerable position. They’re trying something new but with that comes online hate. And that is hard to hear when you care so deeply about what you are doing.
Each week this season, they never fail to announce that a new voting record has been broken. DWTS popularity this season puts everyone involved in the show at risk for online hate.

Julianne Hough is an incredible dancer and has an amazing legacy on the show. She is very admirable in her industry but her hosting has become a distracting part of the show. She is a great host when she is side by side with Alfanzo and has a script in front of her. I think that she wanted to be a part of the show for a longer period of time and hosting would put her in that position, although she seems to want to jump in any dance number she can. I think Julianne would thrive better as the host on the ballroom floor rather than the skybox. In the skybox, it requires the hosts to go off script more because they are interviewing contestants after they have danced. Alfanso has more host experience that would guide him to taking on a better roll for that spot.

This season has kept everyone on their toes. Especially because the new season of The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives just dropped, there is lots of uncovered drama that we did not know about Whitney prior to DWTS… That is for another blog post! I hope you guys are enjoying this season as much as I am. Leave a comment about your hot takes on the show. Hope everyone is doing well and have a good week!
